With the New Year comes new makeup, and although I have been pretty good about restraining myself so far, I did want to treat myself with a few new goodies.
1. Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons Palette: When I first heard about this baby coming out, I knew I had to have it...not just for the packaging, but also for the versatility of the shades. I loved mixing the browns with the violets as creases, and the lighter shimmery shades as the lid to give my look extra "pop" and contrast. It is extremely versatile.
2. Milani Rose Powder Blush (Coral Cove): I actually got this blush last year and am rediscovering it. Yes, of course I am going gaga over the rose-shaped packaging, but it is such a pretty, feminine shade that is suitable for the spring (the weather in California is warming up, despite intermittent days of El Nino rainstorms). I would love to try other shades as well, but they are limited in my local Walmart and Walgreens.
3. L'OREAL Voluminous Original Mascara: Oh man, I thought that the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara was the be-all, end-all when it comes to curling, lengthening, and and thickening. But this takes the cake, for a fraction of the price! Luckily I got it for free as a Christmas gift from my future in-laws (in came in a L'OREAL mascara gift set along with the Voluminous Butterfly and Voluminous Miss Manga). I have more than enough mascara to last me a good chunk of the year without breaking the bank! (Though, that's not what gets me...it's the lipsticks, lip glosses, and eyeshadow palettes)
4. NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams (Dubai and Budapest): As some of you guys may know, NYX came out with 7 new shades in their Soft Matte Lip Cream line! (They also came out with new shades for the Matte Lipsticks, Butter Lipsticks, Butter Glosses, and Intense Butter Glosses). I got lucky and was able to grab the shades Madrid, Dubai, and Budapest. Shown above is Dubai (medium brown) and Budapest (deep mauve). I never expect to like Dubai, especially because I have complained about brown/beige lipsticks not looking good on me in the past (example: MAC Whirl), but wow I was impressed! I absolutely adore Budapest, it is like a lighter version of Copenhagen (and more wearable for everyday). Expect a review coming up for these, especially because I ordered the shades Paris and Manila.
5. OFRA Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick (Americano): I blogged about this gorgeous cinnamon-red shade, and it quickly gained many comments. I am so glad to have resubscribed to Boxycharm because I got this gem. It works wonderfully on my skin while not being drying whatsoever! Expect me to talk about this a lot.
6. Tarte Tarteist Lip Paint (TBT): This was the only shade I liked out of the new Tarteist Lip Paint line. Okay, I also adored Bae and Lovespell but how much more reds and hot pinks do I really need? TBT is a rosy mauve-nude, a Kylie type of shade. I have been toning down my makeup looks lately (but I still love glamming it up once in a while!) and this baby is the icing on the cake.
