Another month, another empties post. This month I didn't finish a ton of stuff, at least compared to how much I usually finish. I have, however, finished a whole lot just the first few days of September so it's already looking like my September Empties post will be a bit of a legendary one. For now, however, I'll get on with a few short reviews and thoughts on the products I did finish in August.
Clarins - Extra-Firming Body Cream 100ml ( here )
Let's start out with some body care products! This is a great body lotion if you've got dry skin. It's of a thicker consistency and so you need to rub it in more than you would with a more liquid lotion. A little bit also goes a surprisingly long way, so that's another huge plus, especially considering the retail price of this! When it comes to any firming effect I can't say I noticed any. I suppose perhaps the thicker consistency forcing you to rub it in more is the "secret" to getting this to "work" - still, I didn't notice any difference I have to say. It also takes a bit longer to absorb than I like, at least when I have to get ready quickly. Not something I will be buying the full-size of.
Versace - Yellow Diamond Perfumed Shower Gel 100ml ( here )
This has a delicious fresh scent. It smells kind of like bananas and florals - I know that sounds weird, but it really smells rather nice. I'm also quite sure it doesn't actually have bananas as a note, it just kind of smells like it, to me at least. As a shower gel this was ok, nothing special. Not something I will be buying - this might smell nice, but it's got nothing on Molton Brown or Aesop scents!
Another one of these. Still love it, still re-purchasing, onto my next bottle.
Clarins - Huile Tonic 30ml ( here )
I've gone through quite a few full-size bottles of this, and currently have one open. I got this generous sample a little while back and decided to use it up rather than let it sit in my drawers for a year. It's a gorgeous product that really helps get rid of any water weight - perfect for events or that time of the month.
Orly - Polishield 5.3ml ( here )
Now for some random bits. I've been on a strict nail polish no-buy since spring and whilst trying to go through my very excessive stash I've also tried focusing on using up my base and top coats one at a time. This one I've used when doing my toenails. I can't say I have anything in particular to say about this, good or bad. It's absolutely ok, but not something I will be buying again.
Jason - Pure Natural Hand Soft in Softening Mango 473ml ( here )
I love the Jason hand washes. They are free of everything nasty, including SLS and they are also fairly affordable. I don't particularly like this scent though, so I'll be steering clear of this one.
Shiseido - Facial Cotton 60 Sheets ( here )
These are crazy expensive, but I absolutely love them and will continue to buy!
Caudalie - Lip Conditioner 4.5g ( here )
I can't believe I finished a lip balm and I wasn't even really trying! I'll admit that once I realised I only had a tiny bit left I did focus on using it up, but other than that it was all "natural". This isn't anything spectacular - it's ok in every way, not bad, not good. But it does come in a tube, and that's what's made it a bit of a winner. I really don't like putting my finger in a pot when I'm out and about, so this has been perfect to keep in my handbag. I'll also admit I've enjoyed the ease of applying this when around the house as well.
This is fabulous.. sorry, couldn't help myself! But seriously though, it's really good stuff. This is perfect for giving your skin a nice treat, a bit of nourishment. Especially when it's feeling a bit clogged or you are having a few breakouts. See my review of this for more details!
I love this sunscreen. It's one of my all-time favourites. It's light, has never broken me out, absorbs quickly and there's no white cast. Will definitely buy again!
Kanebo Sensai Silky Purifying Cleansing Cream 30ml ( here )
As far as cleansing creams go this is nice enough, but nothing too special. I've enjoyed trying a bit of Kanebo Sensai products lately, and while this didn't absolutely wow me, I've also not got anything bad to say.
Juvena - Night Rejuvenate & Correct Delining Night Cream for Normal to Dry Skin 10ml ( here )
This is a very rich, very expensive moisturiser. It moisturised very well, and my skin looked nourished in the morning, but it was also a bit rich for my fairly young skin.
Bliss - Fabulous Everyday Eye Cream 5ml ( here )
This was an absolute waste of time! I can't believe I even bothered finishing the tube. This did absolutely nothing, nothing! It didn't moisturise well, it didn't help with darkness or under-eye bags and it wasn't a good foundation for makeup either. Needless to say - not something I'll be buying the full-size of!
No need to go on about this - you all know how much I adore this. I just bought another tub, it's really quite a miraculous cream!
Creme de La Mer - The Moisturising Soft Cream 3.5ml ( here )
Even though sales assistants will tell you this is the same as the original cream, only a lighter version - there's no way it is. I've used a total of three samples of this, and each time I end up with plenty tiny breakouts and bumps on my face. Needless to say, not something I will ever buy! I also won't try it again, I had my boyfriend finish this sample for me.
La Prairie - Cellular Hydrating Serum 5ml ( here )
This is lovely. It gives a lot of good moisture and also has anti-oxidants. I always have nicely balanced and healthy skin when I use this. It's not life-changing, but it's nice nonetheless. I'd consider buying this.
Kanebo Sensai - Silky Purifying Cleansing Oil 8ml ( here )
This is nice, definitely, but I still much prefer my Aesop Parsley Seed Cleansing Oil - still a firm favourite!
Living Nature - Halloysite Clay Deep Cleansing Mask 5ml ( here )
I've never tried anything by this brand before, nor have I heard much about it, so I had no idea what to expect when trying this. It's actually really good. I left this on for a bit over 20 minutes ( it says to leave it on for at least 20 minutes ) and when I rinsed it off my skin felt awesome. It was noticeably super clean, pores were smaller and where my skin had felt a bit congested - no more. With all this my skin also didn't feel dry, just incredibly soft and smooth. This has gone on my wish list!
Biotherm - Blue Therapy Night Cream for all skin types 1.5ml ( here )
I love Biotherm's Blue Therapy range. It's incredibly soothing. This is not the best night cream I have ever used, and it's not incredibly cheap, so for the price I'll probably look elsewhere. Not something I would mind using though, it's very nice.
Chanel - Stylo Yeux Waterproof in 89 Or Rose ( here )
I'm getting rid of a few more makeup items. These are just simply getting old. First out is this beautiful golden rose eyeliner by Chanel. Chanel's Stylo Yeux Waterproof pencils are a bit of a cult product, and they are very nice, I just don't really use eyeliner, except for gel or liquid, and only to define my upper lash line and make a wing.
Barry M - Lip Liner in Fuchsia 12 ( here )
This is actually pretty good, especially for the price! The colour is a fun bright fuchsia that covers well, stays put and keeps things in place. I'd definitely buy another Barry M Lip Liner if I was ever in need of one and found myself in a Superdrugs.
Dior - Diorshow Liner Waterproof in Turquoise 258 ( here )
Another liner that's getting old. That, and I just don't use it. I need to stop buying blue eyeliners. I always think it will be a fun addition to my typically neutral looks, applying some on the lower lash line during the summer months. All a very good idea, it's just I never do it. Other than that it's a very nice product, I must say. The colour applied evenly and lasted well - the very few times I wore it, mostly while staying in the house..
I've just written a not-so-favourable review on this and I've not really got much to add. Not a mascara I recommend nor will buy again.
Estée Lauder - Pure Color Gloss in 25 Praline Paradise Shimmer 4.6ml ( here )
I was initially going to try and finish this, but realised that was silly. Silly only because I have quite a few lip glosses I actually paid for that is in need of finishing. This is a lovely natural golden colour. Estee Lauder's got some very nice glosses, this being one of them. It's strange the formula never gets mentioned much, but then to be fair I don't own a full-size either so who am I to complain?! Still, nice indeed, the few times I used it.
I've gone through countless samples of this, plus there's a full review. It's still great, I still love it and I still recommend it!
La Prairie - Cellular Energizing Body Spray 1.5ml ( here )
This really is just a body spray, but a wonderful one at that. It's a bit of a "grown-up citrus scent" with a bit of sweetness added for debt. It's nice enough, but doesn't have the best staying power (what body sprays do?) and isn't something I think I'll buy.
Byredo - Pulp Eau de Parfum 1ml ( here )
I adore pulp. It's a gorgeous fresh "juice" scent that I absolutely loved using when the weather was really warm. It was really uplifting without being boring. A gorgeous scent - I'd love to own the full-size.
Frederic Malle - Carnal Flower 3.5ml ( here )
This just might be my favourite perfume.. At least one of them! It's a stunning floral that lasts all day on my skin, and on me it has a bit of a "green" finish. It's gorgeous and I finally treated myself to the 100ml size of it this month. I've wanted this for almost two years, so finally buying it was really exciting. I've used it every day since - it's fantastic!
