| Posted: 02 Jul 2020 01:39 PM PDT ![]() Between Black is King and Hamilton we have a pair of musical films from diverse creators that aren't exactly the first thing you think of when you think of Disney or the Disney+ streaming service. While they're not outside of the "family friendly" home that Disney has occupied from the beginning, they are a bit more grown up, and will certainly appeal to a potentially different audience than many Disney products. Disney+ was always going to be attractive to the core Disney fan audience, but by adding content like this the service has the potential to draw in a much larger audience. Of course, for that to work long term, we will need to see even more additions to Disney+ that look like this, but that's not a bad thing. |
| Posted: 03 Jul 2020 10:04 AM PDT A true Beyonce stan has most likely won the Olympic games of fandom with this confession. A Twitter user has gone viral after revealing that he has kept, and preserved, the stones from her dress after he grabbed them from the audience section eight years ago. After attending Revel Presents: Beyonce Live in 2012 the fan was literally touched by Queen Bey and went home to keep the debris from her jewelled dress in a ziplock. How practical? With a picture of the evidence and his point of view as Beyonce performed in front of him, the software engineer posted his memory on Twitter and delighted members of the Bey Hive with his very bizarre, but relatable revelation.
Let's all be honest, if you had the rare opportunity to touch your idol, with consent, would you not do all that you can to hold to any physical evidence of the moment? So many questions though. Did he have to walk with his hands in the air to ensure he got home safely with the stones? He did answer one popular query regarding Beyonce's safety during the ordeal. He confirmed that he did not yank her, because God forbid the Queen was harmed, but that the stones had dropped on the floor in front of him as she danced. Turns out that this fan is not alone. Many others started sharing their keepsakes after meeting her or sharing the same precious oxygen as her.
Another social media user admitted to keeping the shirt they were wearing when she splashed him with water during the Formation tour in 2016.
Meanwhile, this concert-goer is still holding on to pieces from her set design.
The tweet has also left people nostalgic for the times they have been blessed enough to see her perform. The movie was apparently born during Beyoncé's work on the 2019 film The Lion King, in which she played Nala. At the time, Bey released The Lion King: The Gift, a full-length album that accompanied the film and featured collaborations with African musicians including WizKid and Burna Boy. |
| Tina Knowles blasts Beyonce critics - The Daily Nonpareil Posted: 04 Jul 2020 12:00 AM PDT ![]() Tina Knowles has hit back at critics of her daughter Beyonce's visual album 'Black Is King'. After Beyonce, 38, was accused of "appropriating" African culture for the new project - which is based on the soundtrack she produced for the 2019 remake of 'The Lion King' - Tina insisted that Beyonce is of "African descent" and has worked with "African creatives" on the new album. She wrote on Instagram: "Those who are criticizing the film (before they even see it) saying it's unauthentic, upset that B doesn't actually go to Africa or say that Bey is simply using African cultures for gain are wrong because 1. She makes less with her Afrocentric content. 2. She's actually taken the time studied African costumes and such and didn't just throw this together. She's worked with actual African dancers, film makers, directors etc on this project so for some African Americans and Africans to say it's a facade is truly discrediting the work of their own people. 3. While people whine about her not touring in Africa yet beg for more African representation in entertainment but are mad that they're getting it from one the world's greatest stars is strange to me. They'd rather have B come and they spend their money for a show once or twice every few years rather than have someone of African descent work with African creatives to create art that celebrates them that will last forever and it be done at no cost to them (sic)." And Tina, 66, also went on to blast those who are trying to tear Byeonce down, insisting that the star "dedicates her art to Boldly show the Royalty and beauty of our heritage and journey". She wrote: "It's really sad that the women who shout the loudest 'protect the black woman' that they are the ones that are trying to tear her down. Sisters wake up!!!! Beyonce was taught from a little girl to lift other women up not to tear them down. She minds her own business , does not criticize anyone, Gives of her time and money , and dedicates her art to Boldly show the Royalty and beauty of our heritage and journey ! Her work is to change the narrative! To show that we did not start off as slaves , but that we were kings and queens before we were forced into slavery . Don't you want to see something that shows that ! Aren't you sick and tired Of seeing us as slaves ! She employs African and African-American people , fights for many 'first' in the fashion and film world . Take an inventory of yourself and your hate. Where is it coming from? (sic)." | Beyonce Reportedly Offered $100 Million Movie Deal With Disney - Inside the Magic Posted: 10 Jun 2020 07:14 AM PDT It appears that Beyonce could do more with Walt Disney Pictures than just The Lion King. An insider recently reported that the international pop sensation has been offered a deal for three movies worth $100 million. Reports indicate that one of the three projects will include soundtrack collaboration for Marvel's upcoming Black Panther sequel. "Beyoncé has become a major player for Disney and is the perfect fit for their brand," the unnamed source was quoted saying. "She's worked on a number of projects for them, including voicing Nala in the reboot of The Lion King, and now they're keen to secure her for more projects." "As part of the deal they are also trying to get her team to agree to have Beyoncé voicing some of the new documentaries coming to Disney+," they continued. "After the success of having Meghan Markle voicing the film Elephant on the platform, they have projects coming up which align perfectly with Beyoncé's brand. The negotiations are still ongoing but it's the final details that are being thrashed out now."
Beyonce most recently took the Disney spotlight when she reprised the role of Nala and starred alongside Donald Glover in the Jon Favreau-directed remake of The Lion King. She also recorded an original single for the film's soundtrack called "Spirit." However, fans should take note that Disney has yet to confirm or deny such a deal is being worked out and, until such time, should be taken with a grain of salt.
It should also be mentioned that this is not the first time this rumor has circulated. In fact, Inside the Magic first caught wind of this rumor back in July 2019, as well as the rumor that the pop star would be a part of Marvel's Black Panther sequel project. But specifics such as the proposed monetary figure had not been released yet.
The Lion King (2019) staring Beyonce is currently available for streaming on Disney's streaming service, Disney+. Marvel Studios' Black Panther 2 is still scheduled for a 2021 release. Do you think Disney is negotiating a deal with Beyonce? Would you want to see Beyonce in more Disney content? Why or Why not? Let us know in the comments! |
